New bug in IBM’s ISPF Productivity Tool (IPT)?

As my team is moving us to work with dynamic ISPF, what appears to be a bug in IBM’s ISPF Productivity Tool (IPT) product has surfaced.

Immediately after logon, in the main ISPF menu (ISP@PRIM) you can enter 3.4 and you’ll reach ISPF’s dataset selection panel. But after you’ve entered a TSO command (doesn’t matter which command), you will reach ISPF option 3, and not option 3 sub-option 4 once you subsequently enter 3.4.

So, 3.4 before any TSO command is entered is processed normally. 3.4 after a TSO command is entered brings you to the option 3 menu, and not to the 3.4 panel.

Tracing the ISPF session showed that IPT overrides TSO, and when you enter a TSO command, an IQITSO module is run instead. The bug seems to be with how this module affects the passing of ZTRAIL from the moment it is activated, onwards.

We’ve opened a PMR with IBM on this issue, and the IPT team has been very quick to respond so far. It will be interesting to find out what they have to say about this problem.
